This document reflects the update of the Terms of Service for ERA Technology, LLC on March 19, 2025.
We know that many people avoid reading Terms of Service, but we believe you should understand the relationship defined by your interactions with our services. Understanding these terms is important because, by using our services, you’re agreeing to these terms and represent that you have both read and understood the terms. Besides these terms, we also publish a Privacy Policy. Although it’s not part of these terms, we encourage you to read it to better understand how we use your information and your rights relative to that information. Plus we paid lawyers to help us write this stuff, so we want to get our money’s worth! Lawyers aren’t cheap these days after all.
If you do not accept the terms and conditions then you do not have authorization to use our services.
These Terms of Service reflect the way in which ERA Technology, LLC business operates and the laws that apply to our company. They include :

By using services at socketry.com, any other domain established by ERA Technology, LLC, establishing an account on socketry.com or otherwise using services, applications or widgets provided by ERA Technology, LLC (collectively known as “services”) you are contracting with:

In these terms ERA Technology, LLC may be known under our brand name “socketry”, as “ERA Technology”, and by using the terms “we”, “us” and “our”.
ERA Technology provides content which may include information, text, links, graphics, photos, location information, audio, videos, data, code or other forms of digital data that are available on our properties or via our services. Collectively this data is known as “content” in these terms.
We provide services that provide visibility and insight into local construction activity and trends. This includes leads sourced from public permit filings and other content designed to provide insight into a local area. Over time we may optionally provide the ability for users to share their own content.
All content offered on any of our properties is Copyright ERA Technology, LLC and may not be used without express written permission.
ERA Technology provides links to third party websites and may include content from third party websites on our own properties. Unless otherwise noted, we are not responsible for this third party content, we assume no responsibility or liability for third party content and we do not imply an endorsement of third party websites.
If you are under the age legally mandated for managing your own account you must have your parent or legal guardian’s permission to establish and use a socketry Account. Please have your parent or legal guardian read these terms with you. If you are a parent or legal guardian, and you allow your child to use our services, then these terms apply to you and you are responsible for your child’s activity on the services. By the way we believe more parents should encourage their children to join the construction trades.
These terms help define the relationship between you and ERA Technology, LLC. They are specifically designed for use of ERA Technology services for commercial purposes (by an individual or business).
ERA Technology may provide access via links to third party sites and or services provided by third party sites (and labeled as such). Your use of these third party sites and services is not covered under this agreement and is at your own risk. We recommend you investigate your rights under the terms of service for those sites before proceeding. By using our services you acknowledge that ERA Technology is in no way responsible or liable for your use of a third party site or service.
We give you permission to use our services when you agree to the terms in this document in their entirety which reflect how our business works and how we earn money.
We provide a range of services that are subject to these terms, including:
Our services are designed to provide you with insight on the local construction market. We are software developers and tradespeople. So, as you can imagine, we are constantly working on developing new features to improve the services we provide you. As part of this continual improvement, we sometimes make changes to how services work. At any time if you no longer value the services we provide you may discontinue use of our services and you further have the right under our privacy policy to have your information deleted.
The term “you” refers to the individual using our content and services or contributing content to us. You have permission to use our services provided you meet the requirements for use outlined in these terms.
Our content and our services are proprietary to ERA Technology and/or have been licensed to us by third parties. You agree that unless the content is owned by you, you will not not sublicense, reproduce, distribute, market, sell, transfer, disclose, translate, modify, disassemble, or reverse engineer any aspect of our data, content and services or create derivative works based on any portion of the content or services or obtain possession of any source code or other technical material relating to the content or services.
Additionally, by using our services you agree that you will not:
Unless otherwise noted, ERA Technology, LLC reserves and retains any and all intellectual property rights we have in the services. You are expressly prohibited from copying, modifying or otherwise altering any of our content without prior written permission from ERA Technology, LLC. After all, we built this stuff and it is important to our future as a business.
As our services develop you may have the ability to share content and provide your own data to ERA Technology, LLC. It is important that you follow the following rules associated with your interaction with our services. We call these the “don’t be a jerk” rules:
The penalty for failing to act in a manner consistent with our Terms of Service is a contest of might with your choice of a killer robot or a dragon. (OK this part is made up…we don’t have any killer robots or dragons. Just follow the rules we laid out and we won’t have to deactivate your account).
If you see others acting in a fashion that does not follow the above rules you may contact us at contact@socketry.com. We will take steps to resolve any issues raised.
Some of our future services are designed to let you share content with other users of our services. For instance you might upload a photo of a jobsite or share a review of a particular contractor. You may provide insight about a specific construction project. You are not obligated to provide any content to use our services. You do so with the express understanding that you are free to choose what content you would like to share. It is your obligation to ensure you have the necessary rights to share that content and that the content is lawful. By uploading photos, reviews, editorials or ratings you are giving ERA Technology, LLC permission to use your content. You further indemnify ERA Technology, LLC, its officers, directors, members, employees and contractors from any legal proceedings that arise from your unlawful use or any misuse of content you provide to us. This indemnity covers any liability or expense arising from claims, losses, damages, judgements, fines, litigations costs and legal fees.
Your content is . . . well . . . yours. This means you retain the intellectual property rights to that content. For example, a photo you choose to share is still your photo. As a result, we require your permission to use the content you share with us. By providing any content to ERA Technology you are licensing the content to ERA Technology, LLC and allowing us to use the content as indicated in these terms of service.
This license provides ERA Technology, LLC with the right to use any intellectual property you have shared with us. The license is non-exclusive (meaning you can provide this content to others), we are allowed to use the content anywhere on the globe and the license is provided royalty free (this means that we will not pay you for the content, our use of the content, or any revenues we may derive from the content).
ERA Technology has the right to manage your content including digital hosting and communication of your content. We have the right to make it accessible via any of our services, applications or web properties. We have the right to create derivative works from your content (this means we can change how it looks, blend it with other content, translate from one language to another and so forth). We have the right to sublicense your content to a third party, including for commercial compensation. For instance we have the right to provide any data you provide about job sites to other contractors, to building supply companies, or any other interested party. Our customers will further have the right to share that content in accordance with the terms and conditions of our service.We have the right to charge a fee to our customers for that content. We have the right to place advertising or promotions near your content or to include your content in our advertising and promotions. We have the right to incorporate your content with content provided by others.
By providing content to ERA Technology, you grant us the right to use the content via our direct channels (for instance by the addition of your vacation photos or reviews of a destination on our website) or via third party customers (for instance by providing your vacation review information to a specific hotel chain for use on their website).
This license shall remain in effect for the period under which your content is protected by applicable intellectual property rights.
If you believe that someone has infringed on your intellectual property rights you may contact us at contact@socketry.com and we will take necessary actions to rectify the issue. You always have the right to request we remove your content from our website.
It is the policy of ERA Technology to take down any content that infringes on the copyright or intellectual property rights of a third party. Please contact us at contact@socketry.com if you feel content found on our site infringes on your rights as a content owner. We will make all reasonable efforts to take down infringing content within a reasonable timeframe.
In certain cases when we believe that you have breached our terms or violated any applicable law we reserve the right to remove your content and to report any unlawful use to relevant authorities.
It is our intention to provide the best insight into local construction activity possible. If we fail to meet your expectations you agree to share the feedback with us and we will make our best effort to resolve your issue. You always have the right to no longer use our services and request that we remove any data you have provided to us. Upon notification we will stop any further billing and shut down your access to our services upon the completion of your current billing period. For instance if you pay the monthly fee on January 1 and decide to cancel on January 15 you will receive service for the entire month of January and your account will be canceled on February 1. We do not offer a refund for fees associated with the current month.
EXCEPT AS EXPRESSLY PROVIDED HEREIN, ERA TECHNOLOGY, LLC DOES NOT MAKE ANY OTHER WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE
This section limits our liability to you for any issues that arise with your use of our services. If you do not understand the terms contained in these Terms of Service we recommend you consult an attorney before using our services.
ERA Technology aims to provide the best construction insight as we possibly can. This advice is provided for a fee. It is not intended to be the exclusive source for construction data and or construction leads. Furthermore, our services contain subjective information that may differ substantially or completely from a user’s perspective on the relative value of that lead to your business/trade. Much of our data comes from third party sources (e.g. local city governments). We assume no liability for any inaccuracies in any data we provide and we assume no liability for any user actions taken as a result of that data. As much as we want our users to have an amazing experience using our service, we cannot guarantee data accuracy beyond the stipulations included in this contract.
Further, you may find access to third party services on our site. These are provided for your convenience, but do not imply any endorsement from ERA Technology, nor do we assume any liability for your use of these third parties. We strongly encourage you to understand their respective terms of service should you choose to interact with those third parties.
ERA Technology, LLC is not responsible for any other losses or damages incurred by a user unless those losses are caused by our breach of the terms in this contract.
OUR CONTENT AND SERVICES MAY CONTAIN INACCURACIES OR ERRORS. WE MAY PROVIDE INFORMATION THAT CONTRIBUTES TO A USER MAKING A BUSINESS DECISION THAT WAS NOT IN THEIR BEST INTEREST. ERA TECHNOLOGY, LLC DOES NOT GUARANTEE THE ACCURACY OF ANY INFORMATION PROVIDED. WE DO NOT GUARANTEE SUITABILITY OF A CONSTRUCTION PROJECT TO A USER.
ERA TECHNOLOGY, LLC DATA, LINKS TO THIRD PARTY SITES OR ANY OTHER PROVIDED CONTENT DO NOT IMPLY ENDORSEMENT OF ANY PRODUCTS AND SERVICES. THIS INFORMATION IS PROVIDED “AS IS” WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND.
WE PROVIDE ACCESS VIA LINKS (OR DIRECTLY ON OUR SITE) TO THIRD PARTY PROVIDERS THAT MAY PROVIDE ADDITIONAL DATA OF USE TO A USER (E.G. PERMIT FILINGS). THESE THIRD PARTY PROVIDERS ARE NOT AGENTS OR EMPLOYEES OF ERA TECHNOLOGY, LLC AND WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR YOUR USE OF THEIR SERVICES INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, LIABILITY FOR ERRORS, OMMISSIONS, NEGLIGENCE, PERSONAL INJURY, DEATH AND PROPERTY DAMAGE. WE HAVE NO LIABILITY FOR ANY CHANGES TO YOUR BUSINESS PLANS FOR ANY REASON. WHEN USING A THIRD PARTY SERVICE FOR WHICH WE HAVE PROVIDED ACCESS YOU ARE ASSUMING THE RISKS ASSOCIATED WITH THAT USE.
YOU USE THE SERVICES OF ERA TECHNOLOGY, LLC AT YOUR OWN RISK. ERA TECHNOLOGY OFFICERS, MEMBERS, DIRECTORS AND EMPLOYEES SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES THAT ARISE FROM USE OF OUR SERVICES AND CONTENT.
You have certain legal rights that cannot be limited by these terms of service and these terms cannot restrict those rights. These terms are meant to solely describe the relationship between you as a user and ERA Technology, LLC as a service provider. They cannot be extended to any third party.
In the event any one or more provisions of this Agreement shall for any reason be held by any tribunal of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, illegal or unenforceable, the remaining provisions of this Agreement shall be unimpaired, and each invalid, illegal or unenforceable provision shall be treated by the tribunal as modified to the least extent necessary to rectify its invalidity, illegality or unenforceability and shall be enforced as so modified. We reserve the right to take an action for any breach in these terms on a timeline of our choosing. Just because we have not taken action against a violation does not preclude us from taking that action sometime in the future.
When we make material changes to these terms we will provide a notice (usually via those annoying pop-ups when you launch our website). We encourage you to read any updates we have made as they will affect your rights as a user of our services.
This Agreement shall be governed by, construed, interpreted and the rights of the parties determined in accordance with the laws of the State of Illinois, without reference to the principles of conflicts of law. The parties agree all actions and proceedings arising out of or related to this Agreement shall be brought only in a state or federal court located in Cook County, Illinois, and the parties hereby consent to such venue and to the jurisdiction of such courts over the subject matter of such proceeding and themselves.
ERA Technology utilizes a variety of third party software. In some instances the license information is shown directly with the software component on our site. This section provides license information for all other third party software that requires license notification.
